This year
the Memphis Film Festival will be celebrating
the anniversaries of the creation
of two of our most favorite heroes,
The Lone Ranger and Superman
!
We have many
guests, events, forum discussions
and even a special contest that is centered
around these special characters!
Just look at some of the
exciting things we were able to bring to our attendees...

"SUPER" - SCREENINGS
There will
be a very special screening of the cult favorite,
"ROBOT MONSTER" !
This screening will be very special for two reasons:
First, two of the stars of the film will be in attendance at the this year's festival! Claudia Barrett and Gregory Moffett will be reunited this year to share their memories of this "bad film favorite" !
Second, this
screening will be special because it will be presented in 3-D!!
Complete with those ol' red/blue
glasses!
You won't
want to miss out on this event!

"SUPER" - GUESTS
As you probably noticed as you reviewed our guest list, many of our invited guests worked in TV, radio and film projects that were related to The Lone Ranger and Superman. They will sharing memories and stories of their experiences in our panel discussion tributes as well as informing us with other information about their varied film careers. Many of them will also attend special screenings of the films they made with The Masked Man and The Man of Steel as well.
We will also be hosting an exciting gathering of authors who have extensively researched and published works on the legacy of The Lone Ranger and Superman.
These distinguished experts include:
Jim Nolt,
the creator behind "The Adventure Continues",
a remarkable web site that pays great homeage to the classic George Reeves TV series of the 50s.
This site includes a lot of research into the filming of the Superman series as well as interviews and behind-the-scenes information. (Be sure to check out the amazing NEW adventure of our hero in "Superman and the Secret Planet" !)

Bruce Scivally,
author of "Superman on Film, Television, Radio
and Broadway"
published by McFarland Press.
Bruce will be in attendance and signing copies of his popular book. He will also be active in panel discussions, TV show screenings, etc.
Bruce considers one of the biggest thrills of his life to be his meeting with Clayton Moore - The Lone Ranger!

One of the country's most noted authorities on western films and the early days of Hollywood will be joining us again!
Besides being recognized as the publisher of Western Clippings magazine, Boyd has penned several authorative books on classic Westerns. He has become a Memphis favorite over the years!

David Rothel,
a well-recognized author and expert on western films.
he has written several books on Tim Holt , Roy Rogers,
Richard Boone and many other Western icons.
One of his popular works was
"Who was that Masked Man? The Story of the Lone Ranger"

Also, as
an added bonus, we will be enjoying the company of
Gordie Peer,
a western entertainer who has had professional associations
with Clayton Moore, Lash
LaRue and others. An accomplished
entertainer performing cowboy rope tricks and gun-twirling, Gordie
will certainly be a pleasure to meet!

"SUPER" - RADIO RECREATIONS
As it has
become a tradition at the Memphis Film Festival, our invited guests
also perform classic radio reproductions throughout the weekend. As
you can probably guessed, there will be radio recreations at this summer's
festival based on our honored characters. However, as a special treat,
our attendees will be able to enjoy not two, but THREE radio recreations
during this festival!!!
Recreations of the Lone Ranger and Superman
radio programs will be performed by our guests during the Saturday evening
banquet. However, there will also be a third radio recreation
that will feature festival attendees
which will be based on Sgt. Preston of the Yukon
!
Sgt Preston was another radio feature that originated from station WXYZ in Detroit - the same station that produced and broadcast The Lone Ranger programs that everyone loved!
These exciting radio show recreations will be amongst the most memorable the festival has ever had the pleasure of presenting!

Additionally,
the Memphis Film Festival
in conjunction with The Lone Ranger Fan Club
will be holding a special opportunity drawing
for a lucky person to win a craftsman-made leather replica of the holster
set worn by Clayton Moore in his most famous
role as The Lone Ranger!
This once-in-a-lifetime special posession will be won by some lucky person this summer!!
