Jon Provost

Lassie had many owners and companions over his television and film career but none are as well remembered as "Timmy" who was immortalized forever by Jon Provost.  Jon also appeared in "Back From Eternity", "This Property is Condemned" and Disney's "The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes".

Ken Osmond &
Frank Bank
("Eddie Haskell" & "Lumpy Rutherford"
from Leave it to Beaver)

Ken Osmond is fondly remembered for his comic role as "Eddie Haskell," Wally's weaselly friend on Leave It To Beaver.

Frank Bank was another zany character on Beaver.  He was the thick-headed bully, "Clarence 'Lumpy' Rutherford", who Wally also counted as one of his buddies.

 

 

 

Dorinda Clifton

 

Dorinda had an impressive career in films during the early days of Hollywood.  Among her credits are starring in the '44 version of "Girl of the Limberlost" and costarring with Hopalong Cassidy in "The Marauders".  She also established herself as a popular dancer in films during that time.

Dorinda is also a film historian, having recently written a book, "Woman in the Water", on the early days of Hollywood, her career and the contributions of her father in film history. Copies of her new book are available from www.bedbugpress.com .

She is the daughter of Elmer Clifton (picture on the right) who started his career appearing in the landmark films, "Birth of a Nation" and "Intolerance" for D.W. Griffith.  

He was also the director of many B films throughout the forties, including westerns starring Tex Ritter, Dave O'Brien, Russell Hayden, Don "Red" Barry, Johnny Mack Brown, Buck Jones, Rex Lease and others.

His other directing works include some of the most popular movie serials such as "Captain America" and "Secret of Treasure Island" (of which a newly-restored version was screened at the festival).

Robert Easton

Highly regarded
character actor and dialectician who's remembered for such films as "Red Badge of Courage," "Voyage To The Bottom of the Sea," and "Paint Your Wagon."

Mr. Easton has a very extensive list of acting credits including playing Chester's brother, Magnus, on both the radio and television versions of "Gunsmoke".

Shirley Eaton

Perhaps the best known of all the "Bond girls", Shirley Eaton become a pop culture icon when she appeared as Jill Masterson, the girl whose body was painted entirely in gold in "Goldfinger", believed by many to be the best of all the James Bond action films!.

Shirley has also appeared in many other films, including Agatha Christie's "Ten Litle Indians", Irwin Allen's "Around the World Under the Sea", appeared opposite Christopher Lee in "Blood of Fu-Manchu" and was in several of the "Carry On" comedy film series.

In addition to working with Sir Sean Connery in "Goldfinger" (she is seen in the above picture with Mr. Connery and Ian Fleming, Bond's literary creator), she also made multiple appearances with another James Bond, Sir Roger Moore, in the hit "Saint" TV series.

Mr. Moore has kind enough to write the forward to Shirley's new book of poetry she has recently published, "Shirley Eaton's Golden Touch".

Karolyn Grimes

Karolyn Grimes' film career has included working with such greats as John Wayne, Gary Cooper, director John Ford, Glenn Ford, Jimmy Stewart and Randolph Scott.

She also has the good fortune of having appeared in several films that are recognized today as "classics" - films such as "Rio Grande", "The Bishop's Wife" (along with fellow MFF guest, Ted infuhr), "Hans Christian Andersen" and, of course, with her unforgettable portrayal of Zuzu Bailey in "It's A Wonderful Life", considered by many to be the finest motion picture of all time !

One of Karolyn's greatest joys is spending time with her fans as she shares her memories from her "Wonderful Life" in Hollywood !

James Hampton

We first became familiar with James Hampton with his wonderful portrayal of "Trooper Dobbs" on the classic "F Troop" TV series. But he has quite an impressive film career with movies like the original "The Longest Yard", "Hawmps", the Teen Wolf series and "Mackintosh and T.J.", Roy Rogers' final film.

Ted Infuhr

Ted Infuhr played a major part in our tribute to screen legend Gene Autry since he has quite a history performing with the singing cowboy including 3 feature films and additional appearances on his TV show.  Other western stars he has worked with nclude Johnny Mack Brown, The Cisco Kid and Charles Starrett, the Durango Kid.  He is also a veteran of several film series, such as the "Ma and Pa Kettle" entries including their debut film, "The Egg and I", Basil Rathbone's Sherlock Holmes movies, the "Rusty" canine films and the "Blondie" comic strip adaptations.

After many years, Teddy was reunited with fellow guest, Karolyn Grimes, with whom he appeared in two features, including the film classic,
"The Bishop's Wife".

Jerry "The King" Lawler

Memphis-born wrestling legend Jerry "The King" Lawler has been on television for over 30 years, both as an athlete and a color commentator. He has been doing the latter for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) for several years.   In the course of his career, Mr. Lawler has also appeared in two Hollywood movies; "Man on the Moon" with Jim Carrey and "Life With Mikey" with Michael J. Fox. The former dealt with Mr. Lawler's real-life encounter with the late comedian Andy Kaufman.

Elizabeth MacRae

Goll-lee!

Who could ever forget "Lou Ann Poovie", the sweet, naive girlfriend who was a perfect match to "Gomer Pyle" ?

Besides charming TV viewers with that delightful character and many other TV roles (including multiple appearances on "Gunsmoke" as Festus's girlfriend, "April Clomley"), Elizabeth has also appeared in films like "The Wild Westerners" and "Love in a Goldfish Bowl".  Many may not realize she also provided the voice for "Ladyfish" in Don Knott's popular film, "The Incredible Mr. Limpet"

Noel Neill



The "First Lady of Metropolis" returned to Memphis this year after a very popular appearance in 2004!

While Noel is instantly recognizable as the screen's first Lois Lane, her film career reaches far beyond that classic role to include several westerns (working with stars like Lash LaRue, Clayton Moore, Jimmie Wakely, Johnny Mack Brown and Ken Curtis).

She has also worked with stars like Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Gene Kelly and William Holden.

Hot off the presses!

Noel Neill brought the latest edition of her biography with her to the show and Memphis attendees were the very first members of the public to have an opportunity to get a copy!

The new 2006 edition was released on June 15th - the opening day of the Memphis festival!  It is more than twice as large as the 2003 edition (growing from 8 chapters up to 17) and contains more than 500 photos mostly in color (more than three times the 158 photos that were seen in the earlier edition!)

This doesn't sound like a later edition of her book - but an entirely new book altogether!

Rugged character actor who appeared in several John Wayne and Audie Murphy films.

Maggie Peterson

This li'l darlin' gal is best known for creating the lovable character, Charlene Darling, on "The Andy Griffith Show".  She has performed with Doug Dillard's band both on and off-screen as part of that TV mountain family, The Darlings.

Besides that popular role, this comic actress has appeared on several TV series including "Green Acres", "Odd Couple" and "Gomer Pyle" as well as appearing in films alongside Don Knotts and Andy Griffith.

Don Kay
"Little Brown Jug"
Reynolds


Don has worked with some of the greatest western stars in film history including several films with Charles "Durango Kid" Starrett, Roy Rogers, Dale Evans and Eddie Dean.

One of his most recognizable roles is that of "Little Beaver", the Indian youth who rode along side Jim Bannon in the the famous Red Ryder series.

Don took part in our tribute to Gene Autry and reminisced about the films he made with Mr. Autry - "Beyond the Purple Hills" and "The Last Round-Up".
